Richard
McMullin formed the Stark Community Chorus in 1992 as The Jackson Community
Chorus. His dream was to give back to the community not only by providing a
musical outlet for Jackson High School Alumni but also by offering a scholarship
to deserving area graduating seniors who have chosen to pursue a higher
education in music. With the untimely loss of Mr. McMullin in 1994, Bruce Shelley took over as Director and
opened participation to include all of Stark County by re-naming the chorus The Stark Festival Chorale. In 2004, the
chorus reached a crossroads regarding its existence and with a renewed energy,
decided to press forth under the leadership of Dr. Britt Cooper, Assistant Director of Music at
Walsh University. After his departure, Lisa Madaffer, our very talented Assistant Director stepped
up to the plate and remains true to our three-fold mission:

 |
To
provide an outlet for talented voices of the community to perform on
a regular basis. To this end, we are always striving to include new
voices and have an open invitation policy to those who wish to join
us. It has been said that our members derive as much enjoyment and
satisfaction out of rehearsing as we do performing. The reason is
because our members just love to sing.
|
 |
To
produce
a quality musical product for the community to enjoy. Our members
pride themselves in the dedication and attention to detail that we
attempt to put into every performance.
Together, we continue to put together quality performances
that are musically provocative and satisfying.
|
 |
To
give
back to the community by offering
financial support in the form of our annual scholarship awarded to
college-enrolled High School Seniors majoring in music. We have
given several scholarships in the past and have had the pleasure of
welcoming some of our scholarship recipients back as guest musical
artists.
